Economic Recovery is in Your Hands

The recovery of the American economy is directly linked to the overall success of the nation’s small businesses. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, small businesses, which are firms with less than 100 employees, represent more than 99 percent of all employer firms, employ half of all private sector employees, pay 45 percent of total U.S. private payroll, and have generated 60 to 80 percent of all new jobs over the last ten years.

To ensure that local small businesses are prepared for economic recovery, the Union County Economic Development Partnership has established the Union County Small Business Development Program and will launch a year-long series of workshops: On the Rebound: Survival Strategies for Small Businesses. The workshops allow small business owners and entrepreneurs in Union County to formulate a direct exchange of information and ideas with a focus on building a stronger business. The workshops provide time to learn about small business programs, developing business plans, financial issues, zoning and building code topics, customer service and retention, and more. The workshops are presented by officials from the Ohio Small Business Development Center (SBDC), TechColumbus, and local business experts and are held the third Wednesday of every month from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM.

Partners for the Small Business Development Program include: Ohio Small Business Development Center (SBDC), TechColumbus, Union County Chamber of Commerce, Liberty National Bank, Holbrook & Manter CPAs, Heartland of Marysville, Union County Economic Development Partnership, Marysville Entrepreneurial Center, Marysville Uptown Renewal Team, and the Uptown Plain City Organization.

The workshops are free, but registration is required and can be made by calling the Union County Chamber of Commerce (937-642-6279) or by EMAIL.
